Electroproduction of nucleon resonances

چکیده

The unitary isobar model MAID has been extended and used for a partial wave analysis of pion photoand electroproduction in the resonance region W < 2 GeV. Older data from the world data base and more recent experimental results from Mainz, Bates, Bonn and JLab for Q up to 4.0 (GeV/c) have been analyzed and the Q dependence of the helicity amplitudes have been extracted for a series of four star resonances. We compare single-Q analyses with a superglobal fit in a new parametrization of Maid2003 together with predictions of the hypercentral constituent quark model. As a result we find that the helicity amplitudes and transition form factors of constituent quark models should be compared with the analysis of bare resonances, where the pion cloud contributions have been subtracted. Counting pions in the nucleon

The number of pions in the nucleon is a theoretical concept and its value is model dependent. It is, however, a useful tool to understand the pionic contribution to several nucleon observables such as electric charge radii, magnetic moments, axial charge, pion-nucleon coupling constant, amplitudes for electroexcitation of baryon resonances and electroproduction of pions above such resonances.

Final State Interactions in Ω Photoproduction near Threshold Yongseok Oh

Vector meson photoproduction and electroproduction have been suggested as a tool to find or confirm the nucleon resonances. In order to extract more reliable informations on the nucleon resonances, understanding the non-resonant background is indispensable. We consider final state interactions in ω photoproduction as a background production mechanism. For the intermediate states, we consider nu...

Dilepton decays of nucleon resonances and dilepton production cross sections in proton-proton collisions

Relativistic, kinematically complete phenomenological expressions for the dilepton decay rates of nucleon resonances with arbitrary spin and parity are derived in terms of the magnetic, electric, and Coulomb transition form factors. The dilepton decay rates of the nucleon resonances with masses below 2 GeV are estimated using the extended vector meson dominance (eVMD) model for the transition f...

An Isobar Model for Η Photo- and Electroproduction on the Nucleon

An isobar model containing Born terms, vector meson exchange and nucleon resonances is used to analyze recent η photoproduction data for cross section and beam asymmetry, as well as JLab electroproduction data. Good overall description is achieved up to Q = 4.0 (GeV/c). Besides the dominant S11(1535) resonance, we show that the second S11 resonance, S11(1650), is also necessary to be included i...

Bremsstrahlung Model Calculation of High Energy Nucleon - Nucleon Scattering

A model calculation of nucleon-nucleon scattering is presented, which results in an amplitude that in the elastic high energy limit realizes the Wu-Yang idea regarding the relation between the elastic form factor of the nucleon and the differential cross section; and which is consistent with the behavior of the differential cross section for the production of nucleon resonances. The calculation...

Electroproduction of K mesons at CLAS

Quark models predict baryon resonances [1] that have not yet been observed via strong interactions. These resonances could be detected via electroand photoproduction of strange mesons. Of special interest are the nucleon resonances N which some of them could couple strongly to KΛ and KΣ [2]. Moreover, higher mass nucleon resonances could favor decaying into KΣ, near threshold. Using a quark-pai...
